About Tandemploy

People matter – with this mindset the Berlin startup Tandemploy set out to change the way we work. Not just a little, but a lot, with the help of digitization and a whole lot of heart. The product: a highly innovative software solution that puts people, with all their skills and needs, back into the center of the corporate world and gives organizations the necessary nudge to drive their own digital transformation.

The Tandemploy SaaS connects coworkers for a wide variety of professional and educational formats, thus breaking apart rigid structures without the need for companies to change completely. Because they already have their most valuable driver of change: their own employees! The Berlin-based Tandemploy crew already lives and breathes this team spirit.

Their motto: Full-time is whatever you make of it.

Everyone – whether it be interns, team leads or founders – works with maximum flexibility and in the way that suits their life best. The founders, Anna Kaiser and Jana Tepe, share their vision of a better working world, in which inner growth becomes a guarantee for success, as sought-after speakers on national and international stages, in associations and initiatives, such as the ethics advisory board “Ethikbeirat HR-Tech”, and in an advisory function for politics and economy, for example in the advisory board “Young Digital Economy” of the German Federal Ministry of Economics.

Our Story

Two women, one HR consultancy, one job and another two women (different ones) – these are the protagonists in the founding story of Tandemploy. The first two women are Anna Kaiser und Jana Tepe. Until 2013 the two of them worked in a recruiting firm for the digital world. They reviewed applications, matched qualified candidates with open positions and consulted companies that were searching for digital heads. One day an application landed on their desks that was different than what they had seen before. Two women were applying for one position as a Job Sharing tandem. Anna and Jana were thrilled.

Two days later they quit their jobs and started Tandemploy, a platform for people that want to share their job with a tandem partner. And for companies that are open to this new form of working. Only weeks later, Anna and Jana were among the pioneers of the “New Work” movement. Media inquiries and speaker slots soon followed. Large companies suddenly became interested in New Work, not only because they realized that their previous structures are immobile, but also because they are unattractive for new talents. The deeper Anna and Jana delved into the topic of “New Work”, the clearer it became that something urgently needed to change. A professional world that only revolves around itself and exploits people instead of rekindling their creative power urgently needed a new operating system.

Since 2016, the team, which since has grown to 30 people, has been developing exactly that – highly innovative and disruptive Enterprise software that breaks down the established structures in companies by connecting employees for collaborative forms of work and learning. Large corporations as well as medium-sized companies use Tandemploy’s Talent Marketplace fully aware that the often-invoked change cannot come from the outside alone, but must primarily arise within the organization itself.

First external skill matching and now internal skill matching for companies – could one summarize the story behind Tandemploy like this? One could – IF the journey was already over. But it has just started. Digitization will change the economy to an extent that can hardly be envisioned today. And so the motto for Tandemploy is as follows: Stay flexible without losing sight of your own vision. The vision of a corporate world, where it is nothing unusual that two women apply for a job together – and people achieve more with smarter and more collaborative methods, all the while working less.

What motivates us…

…is the big picture, the notion of a different world. Of the idea that everything we do, we could do differently. We believe in the power of design and that it is within our power to say: ‘We don’t want that anymore. It has to be done in a different and better way.’

Isn’t it strange, that a working world that makes so many people unhappy, is supposedly the best solution we have? When others say “Yes, but…”, we say “Yes, and…” – and get going. When others ask “How can that be done?”, we just go ahead and try it out. Until it works for everyone that lives a colorful life and wants to be connected with others at eye level. We are convinced that work and life can go hand in hand in a fulfilling way and are committed to building a future of work that allows people to regain their ability to create, work according to their skills and needs and still have enough time and energy left over to live consciously in every aspect of their lifes. We can achieve all that. Together. If we want it!

Jana Tepe is founder and managing director of Tandemploy, a multi-award-winning Berlin tech start-up that is changing the working world with smart software and a lot of heart. As a child, Jana wanted to be a firefighter or at least anchorwoman of the daily news. Today she saves desperate CEOs from hopeless hierarchy pyramids. With her vision of a life-friendly work environment, of well connected companies where knowledge flows freely and people work according to their talents and needs, she not only made it into the daily news, but into all other influential media sources. At the same time, she does not want to spend time talking, she would rather #goforit: break up old structures and try new ways, supported by the possibilities that digital technology offers. Both large corporations as well as mid-sized companies use the Tandemploy software to drive their own digital transformation – with new work models, learning formats and knowledge transfer at eye level without any departmental boundaries. The Tandemploy team, made up of 30 people, shows how it can be done. Jana shares the management in tandem with her co-founder Anna Kaiser. The 40-hour week is history. Instead, everyone in the team works as flexibly as possible, writing books on the side, traveling the world or attending the clown academy. And should the job as anchorwoman present itself? Then Anna would probably be right there by Jana’s side. And their opening line? “Good evening, dear viewers. Berlin: Tandemploy software has been proven to make employees healthier and happier.”

Anna Kaiser is founder and managing director of Tandemploy, a multi-award-winning Berlin tech start-up that is changing the working world with smart software and a lot of heart. As a child she dreamed of living on a farm or running her own dental clinic. Today she is digging up the world of work and pulling outdated work structures out at the roots. What drives her? The conviction that all things can be done differently and most of them much better. For example learning and working together in companies. With her vision of a life-friendly work environment, of well connected companies where knowledge flows freely and people work according to their talents and needs, she inspires people as a popular interview partner and speaker. At the same time, she does not want to spend time talking, she would rather #goforit: break up old structures and try new ways, supported by the possibilities that digital technology offers. Both large corporations as well as mid-sized companies use the Tandemploy software to drive their own digital transformation – with new work models, learning formats and knowledge transfer at eye level without any departmental boundaries. In case Anna does end up moving to the countryside one day, she might be sitting on her veranda after a day in the fresh air and stumble across her photo while leafing through a magazine. The title will read “Everyone thought it couldn’t be done – until she came and did it. ” Then she will smile contentedly, go inside and successfully tune her cello by ear for the first time. Or maybe she will do something completely different.

Anna Kaiser/Jana Tepe is founder and managing director of Tandemploy, a young company that has been turning the working world upside down since 2014 and has received over 25 awards for its work. She is one of the 40 Leading HR Heads, LinkedIn Top Voice, one of the ’25 Women’ who are revolutionizing our economy and was among the IT Women of the Year 2018, just to name a few. Her desire to change and improve the working world for everyone led Anna / Jana to co-found Tandemploy. Together with her team, she develops software that supports corporations and medium-sized companies in putting new structures and working models into practice. She also discusses her wish for an inter-connected, innovative and future-oriented working environment at the highest political and trade union level, is on the advisory board “Young Digital Economy” of the Federal Ministry of Economics and member of the “Ethics Advisory Board HR-Tech”.
